7TH ANNUAL PTCOG-NA CONFERENCE IMPORTANT UPDATE

Dear Colleagues,

Following our last communication in May 2021, we once again would like to provide you with an important update on the positive progress made for the 7th Annual PTCOG-NA Conference. We are excited to say that we have been working hard to ensure everything is in place to provide a live conference to the standard our PT community deserve. An update here includes:

  1. We reconfirm our plans towards a live meeting in Seattle and invite everyone to join us in this exciting opportunity to reconnect in person. The 7th Annual PTCOG-NA Conference in Seattle will provide the perfect platform to share the latest developments in our field and importantly an opportunity to network and communicate in-person, not via a computer screen from our offices or home.

  2. We have closed our contract at the newly renovated Bell Harbor International Conference Center. This is to include a full onsite exhibition and a comprehensive 3-day program including confirmed speakers of the highest standard. View the Program at a Glance HERE. The conference hotel hub is also confirmed at the famous Edgewater Hotel and reservations will be available shortly via our conference website.

  3. Together with our local host, the SCCA Proton Therapy Center, we are finalizing an exciting social program including a visit to the Proton Therapy Center itself, the 7th PTCOG-NA Gala dinner in the Capitol Hill area and a tour of the University of Washington Medical Cyclotron Facility which is to be combined with the PTCOG-NA RB Optimization Workshop.

  4. As of June 30, 2021, Washington State restrictions have been lifted with some key inclusions to note:
    1. All businesses are permitted to move to 100% capacity, regardless of the public’s vaccination status, provided that ICUs throughout the state have not reached 90% capacity.
    2. As of May 13, 2021, crowd size for vaccinated attendees is no longer limited at spectator events, conferences, live performances, weddings, funerals and more.
    3. As of May 13, 2021, masks and physical distancing are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals, per CDC guidelines.

  5. We are also excited to note the following updates from a conference venue perspective:
    1. We are no longer restricted to the previous capacity limit of 177 participants which is fantastic news. The Bay Auditorium has a capacity of 350 and we hope to welcome you to join us in this newly refurbished venue following a multi-million-dollar renovation completed during the pandemic
    2. We have the entire 3rd floor of the conference center and comprehensive precautions are in place for the safety of our attendees. Only PTCOG-NA attendees will have access to our floor and dedicated entrances. All expected onsite precautions in relation to hygiene and sanitary standards will be adhered to and we continue to monitor ongoing policy updates. For the latest details visit our Health & Safety Protocols page HERE
    3. Already vaccinated persons and events do not require masks and or social distancing policies in the State of Washington.

  6. Abstract submissions received for Seattle were in line with submission numbers of previous PTCOG-NA events. All three Keynote speakers are confirmed and can be viewed here, and we are now finalizing the last few of sixteen Educational Speakers.

    Invitation Letter

    Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the PTCOG-NA Executive Committee and the UW Medicine/SCCA Proton Therapy Center, we are pleased to invite you to the Seventh Annual Meeting of PTCOG-NA to be held in Seattle, WA September 18 – 20, 2021. Our meeting will be held at the newly renovated Bell Harbor International Conference Center which offers scenic views of the Olympic Mountains, Mount Rainier, Puget Sound, Elliott Bay, and the Seattle skyline.

The theme of the 7th annual meeting will be “Precision Particle Therapy”. The recent expansion in access to particle therapy provides the radiation oncologist an unprecedented ability to individualize particle selection to the tumor, multimodality regimen, and patient normal tissue. This meeting will provide an opportunity for scientific discourse and collaborative discussions from thought leaders in clinical and translational radiation oncology, medical physicists, radiation biologists on a wide range of subjects including FLASH radiotherapy, cancer immunotherapy, and the value proposition for particle therapy in 2021. Additionally, we will discuss best-practice as well as the latest evidence-based management paradigms in particle therapy.

PTCOG-NA’s mission focuses on scientific exchange, education and on capturing the collaborative opportunities to expand the clinical evidence of particle therapy. PTCOG-NA aims at identifying the most promising strategies to incorporate proton therapy as subspecialty of Radiation Oncology in the interdisciplinary management of our patients.

The schedule will allow you to explore the Seattle area throughout the weekend and enjoy our hospitality, including a visit to our SCCA Proton Therapy Center.

The call for abstracts is now officially open. For submission guidelines and to submit your abstract visit
